A Legacy of Community Connection
Since 1973, the Shankill Community Area Newsletter (SCAN) has been the beating heart of communication in the Shankill area. For over five decades, we have connected neighbours, celebrated local achievements, promoted community events, and supported local businesses.
Our Founding
SCAN was established by dedicated community volunteers who recognized the need for a local publication that would bring together the diverse elements of the Shankill community. From the beginning, our mission has been clear: to serve as a platform where residents, clubs, organisations, retailers, politicians and service providers could come together for their mutual benefit.
Through the Years
Throughout its history, SCAN has evolved with the community it serves. What began as a simple newsletter has grown into an essential community resource, documenting the changes, celebrations, and everyday life of Shankill over the decades.

Always Volunteer-Run
